Botanical Name : Tinospora cordifolia

Botanical description : A large climber with succulent, corky and grooved stems. Slender pendulous fleshy roots emerge from branches.
Leaves - Cordate, membranous, glabrous, 5-10 cms long; petiole 2.5-7 cms.
Flowers - Racemes of about 5 cms; axillary, terminal or from old branches, yellowish white in colour.
Fruits : Carpels.
Distribution : Wildly throughout India.
Cultivation : Propagated by stem cuttings and seeds. Can be grown in almost all types of soil and under varying climatic conditions.
Chemical Constituents : Tinosporin(a diterpenoid); Tinosporide, cordifolide, tinosporidine, beta-sitosterol, cordifol, heptacosanol, octacosanol, tinosporaside, cordifolisides.
